Description: 8U softball introduces competitive play, while still maintaining a strong focus on teaching the fundamentals of the game. Kid-pitch is introduced at this level, with special rules. Each batter starts with a count of 1-0, and the pitcher pitches until the batter gets a hit, strikes out, or draws three more balls. When the batter gets to four balls, her coach enters and pitches up to three additional pitches to allow the hitter to get on base. A 10" softball is used at this level, which is a smaller ball designed for seven and eight year old-sized hands.
