Girls Varsity Basketball

Team of the Week




The girls varsity team won convincingly at home on Tuesday night against Nashua South High School.  After jumping out to an early lead, they never looked back.  They were ahead 30-9 at halftime and went on to win by a final score of 57-22.

Friday nigh the Girls Varsity team improved to 13-6 with a 50-45 win in overtime at Nashue North High School.

 


 

10 Questions with Head Coach Bruce Johnson

 

1.       What is something you like about the particular team your coaching now?

This is a very enjoyable group. They all get along good, and they are very hard working.

 

2.       How long have you been coaching at Timberlane?

This is my 11th season.

 

3.       What other coaching experience do you have?

I have had many other coaching positions. I have coached many AAU teams, and was also the Boys Varsity Basketball coach in Hopkinton (NH).

 

4.       What do you like about coaching?

I had a high school coach who really taught me a lot. I like to be able to do the same for my players.

 

5.       What is your favorite professional sport?

I like all professional sports.

 

6.       What are your favorite team(s) and/or player(s)?

It is hard to choose, but I really enjoy watching Tiger (Woods) and I loved to watch Michael Jordan when he played. I also watch a lot of college basketball.

 

7.       What is your most memorable moment as a coach?

That is tough to choose, but I would have to say last year’s 18-0 season. People thought it couldn’t be done in a tough Class L.

 

8.       What are some of your hobbies (sports and/or other)?

I love to fish. I also like to work with leather. I craft leather products like belts and purses.

 

9.       What is your favorite vacation spot?

I did a lot of traveling with the AAU teams I coached. I also like the Caribbean, spending time on the beach and deep sea fishing.

 

10.   Choose one meal and one television show…

I like a good steak and pretty much anything on ESPN.
