2019 NEXT GENERATION SOFTBALL SUMMER CAMPS Brought To You in Partnership with Queens University Royals Softball at MARA

 

Nationally ranked Queens University softball coaches and players will lead camps in partnership with MARA for two 4-day sessions in July. Head coach Stacey Schramm has coached multiple teams to conference and NCAA tournaments at both the D1 and D2 levels.

 

These fun and instructional camps are designed for the growth and development of players ages 6-14. Next Generation Softball players will be evaluated by the coaches and instructors the first day of camp. Campers will then be grouped based upon their age and skill level.

 

Week 1: July 22-25

8U (ages 6-8) & 10U (ages 8-10) Fundamentals Camp

- Hitting, throwing and fielding

- Base running

- Infield and outfield skills

- Game situations

 

Cost:      $135 per session

Times:    8U: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

               10U: 1:30 – 4:30 pm

 

8U & 10U Camp Add-on: Pitching Clinic

 

Cost:      $60 per pitcher

Times:    8U & 10U: 12:15 – 1:15 pm each day of camp

 

Week 2: July 29-August 1

12U (ages 10-12) & 14U (ages 12-14) Instructional Camp

- Hitting (including bunting), throwing, and fielding

- Infield and Outfield Skills

- Base running

- Game situations

For interested players:

Pitching breakout sessions

Catching breakout sessions

 

Cost:      $185 per session (includes lunch each day)

Times:    12U: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

                14U: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

 

All camp sessions held at MARA: Arthur Goodman Park, 1200 S. Trade Street, Matthews, NC 28105.

 

Each camper will receive a t-shirt* included with their registration fee.

*T-shirts may not be available for late registrants - so register early!

 

Lunch provided for WEEK 2 CAMP ONLY:

Pizza, chips & cookie

Chicken nuggets, chips & cookie

Turkey sub, chips & cookie

Hot dog, chips & cookie

 

Every camper will receive lunch and drinks included with her registration fee for Week 2 session. If your camper does not like the lunch option for that day or has a food allergy we ask that you pack an alternative lunch. Credit will not be given for unused lunches. Our concessions facility cannot handle special dietary requests.

 

Cancellation/Refund Policy:

Cancellations made two weeks prior to the start date of each camp session will be refunded $75/Week 1 camp, $60/Week 1 pitching clinic and $125/Week 2 camp of the registration fee. After this deadline, no refunds will be given. Only exception is illness or injury supported by doctor’s note will be refunded the full amount minus $25 processing fee.

 

Rain Policy:

Camps are rain or shine. Arthur Goodman Park has a state of the art weather detection system. If the alarm sounds during the camp, campers will be moved to a safe location. If the weather does require us to stay off the fields we may use Friday as a makeup day.  

 

FAQ’s:

What to Bring: A glove, fielder’s facemask, and bat is all you need, but feel free to bring any equipment you’d like (label all items!). Those wanting to participate in the catcher’s breakout session should bring your own gear IF you have it. MARA will have a couple of spare sets available for use during the breakout sessions.

Lunch: Pack a lunch daily for Week 1 camp sessions

Snacks/Drinks: Pack daily snacks & a drink. Water will be provided, but bring a water bottle for refills

Sunscreen: Make sure your camper puts this on before camp and brings extra to reapply

Clothing: Cool & comfortable, cleats are preferred and don’t forget a hat!

Breaks: Water breaks will be taken throughout the day, as well as 30-45 minutes for lunch.

Communication: Please check your email regularly as this is our primary way we communicate. Any additional information that we need to convey will be passed on to you via the email address you supply at registration so include all necessary family emails. This will eliminate any confusion and/or miscommunication.
