Commissioner - Steve Brooks

2019 Spring Baseball for Ages 13-16:  Registration will Open on January 1

MARA is proud to offer competitive baseball via programs for ages 13-16 (for Spring 2019, any player born after August 31, 2002 is eligible).  Parents and players continually seek out programs at this age level and MARA is committed to offering a robust playing environment in both the fall and spring/summer.

  • A misconception about baseball at this level is that it conflicts with the Middle/High School seasons.  When in fact, our game season is structured to commence when school seasons are over.  We will have many practices throughout March and April for players not on school teams, but the MARA program (participating in the Junior and Senior Divisions of Little League) offers a continuing competitive outlet once the school season is over.   Games continue through the month of June.

  • Teams are formed for ages 13 and 14 (Junior League) and 15 and 16 (Senior League).  Players born prior to September 1, 2004 will participate in the Senior Division.

  • Registration will close on March 3

  • Open workouts will begin approximately March 8

  • Teams will be assigned by late March

  • All communications from MARA will occur via email to the addresses listed in registration system- please make sure to include as many as possible for your family

  • Cost is $275; players will receive hat and shirt

  • Bat Requirements: Any bat stamped as "USA Baseball" or "BBCOR" is allowable.

  • In addition to standard rec team involvement, MARA will offer other competitive outlets of play carrying all the way through July.  A full description of the competitive team options (Select/All Stars/Queen City League) at MARA is available upon request (and will be sent in the last of week of December to all players previously in the MARA system)

  • Any parent interested in coaching should both signal on the registration form and drop a note to commissioner Steve Brooks.  We are always looking for many head and assistant coaches.

  • RESIDENCY:  Little League operates under strict residency requirements.  If you are not, 1) a resident of Matthews, or 2) attend school in Matthews, or 3) live OR attend school in the allowable Charlotte / Stallings / Indian Trail “surrounding area” as defined below, please contact Commissioner Brooks.

  • Note: “surrounding area” is defined as anywhere within these borders (full map can be provided if needed for precision):  To the North:  must be west of rte 74 / south of Sardis Rd North and McAlpine Creek and east of Providence Rd.  To the West:  while staying south of rte 51, must be east of Rea Rd, east of Elm Rd and east of Blakeney Heath Rd.  To the South:  must be north of Ardrey Kell Rd and the 6 six mile creek/county line.  To the East:  anywhere east of rte 74 must live or attend school in Matthews.  Also, can be east of old Monroe Rd and west of rte 74 all the way south to N.
