Welcome Letter 2018

Cheer Parents,


Welcome to the 2018 Cheerleading Season!

We are looking forward to a great season.  Our goal is to learn Cheers, Stunts, a Competition Routine and much more while having fun.  We are very excited for the
season to begin and welcome all the new Cheerleaders as well as all our returning ones.



Volunteering is still 6 hours– 2 hours at the MSA Competition regardless of Football Volunteer hours.   The additional 4 hours should be completed during the season as needed.  A check will be collected in the amount of $150.00, and should be payable to “MSA Cheerleading” and should be post dated December 31, 2018.  Please note this check will be cashed if you do not satisfy your volunteer hours by the end of the 2018 season.  Sign up genius will be continued this season to help with organizing and keeping track of volunteer hours.  There are limited spots for each event, be sure to sign up early to secure your preference.  As a reminder this program is solely run by volunteers, and without your continued support and dedication our MSA Cheerleading Program would not be possible.  We thank you in advance for any and all assistance this season!


Uniform Distribution:

Uniform distribution June 18 in the gym  at the Falls School.  It will run similar to last season.  Another check will be collected in the amount of $150.  Again this check should be payable to “MSA Cheerleading” and should be post dated December 31, 2018.


Conditioning week:

The entire program will condition together 8/1 - 8/3 from 6:00 – 7:30, outside at the high school near the concession stand. 

All paperwork, inclusive of medical clearance forms are due before your child can practice with their team.  The paperwork can be obtained on the MSA website. 




Choreography Camp:

6th, 7th & 8th week of 8/6 – 8/10 from 9:00-2:00

4th & 5th week of 8/6 – 8/10 from 9:00-2:00

2nd & 3rd week of 8/13 – 8/17 from 9:00-12:00

Choreography camp is where the team learns their routine for the competition season, inclusive of placement.  



Practices are closed practices, with the exception of the last 15 minutes.  Please drop off and pick up your child on time.  Please remember your coaches are volunteers with family and work commitments as well.

Practices are 2 times a week for all teams with the exception of K-1 which is 1 time a week.



Tumbling will be held at Extreme Force Allstars Gym, 121 Stillwater Road, Mahopac, NY. 

Start date for Tumbling is 9/10/18, this is in addition to the regular practice days for each team.

The younger teams (2-3 & 4-5) should have coaches at tumble practices to ensure adherence to the gym rules.  Any child that cannot follow the gym rules may be asked to sit out, as safety is our main concern.

Mondays from 6:00 – 7:00 or 7:00 – 8:00 (additional information to follow)



All games are on Sunday and we will provide the times when we receive the schedule.

We will be cheering for the home games only this season on the Mahopac High School turf field.  We will meet on the grassy area behind the stands and walk in together as a team.  Full uniforms are to be worn to all games, this includes lollipops/briefs, socks, bow and cheer sneakers.  No jewelry is to be worn and it is not your coaches’ responsibility to hold on to any jewelry.  As the weather gets cooler cheerleaders are allowed to wear their warm up suits or white leggings.




All competing teams will attend 5 possible competitions starting in October through early December.

Dates and times for competitions will be distributed as soon as we have all the information. Times can change, so it’s important to keep the entire day available for each competition.  If there are competitions you will not be able to attend we will have to amend the routine so commitment to the short season is expected after choreography is created. 


Attendance is very important from a safety aspect and especially for competitions.  Please note if any cheerleader that misses multiple unexcused practices this season will not be allowed to cheer at any of the competitions and only cheer at the games.  This will be left to the discretion of your coaches and discussed with the board on an individual basis. 

Safety is always our main concern when making any and all decisions.


Team Moms:

All questions, comments and concerns should be directed your Team Moms during Cheerleading events, including games, competitions and practices.  Your coaches’ main priority while working with the team is to ensure safety during any and all instruction.

Cheerleading Registration for the 2018 Season will be open shortly.

Kindergarten - 1st grade registration closes July 15 

2th - 8 th grade registration closes June 5th

Conditioning Week for all grades August 1st-3rd at the HS Field from 6:00-8:00pm 

All League paperwork will be due during conditioning week.


Choregraphy camp dates are as follows:

Week of August 6th for 4th -8th grade

Week of August 13th for 2nd -3rd grade


We are in need of a coach for the kindergarten/first grade cheer team

Tentative practice days are as follows:

K - 1 - still need a coach please contact us if you are interested in volunteering for this position

2-3rd grade: Tuesdays and Wednesdays 5:30-7:00pm

4th - 5th grade: Tuesdays and Thursdays times TBD

6,7,8th grade: Wednesdays and Fridays looking into after school for Wednesdays and 5:00-7:00 for Fridays.  If after school does not work out both days will be 5:00 - 7:00pm.

Uniform night will be June 18th in the MSA room. More info will be out about this shortly.
