College is for Everyone Initiative

This summer we discussed our desire to roll out a few educational initiatives for our families and to make a more determined focus on educational opportunity for our players. In that spirit, we have several opportunities to mark on your calendar’s coming up in the near future.

The first will be a “College is for Everyone” event focused on getting our students looking, thinking, and potentially pursuing college opportunities after high school.  The first event will be Nov. 13th  for all JV players, held prior to practice, at 7:30 pm at the fairgrounds. This will be a brief 30-minute discussion on college and serve to encourage or players to consider post-high school educational opportunities.

We will replicate this for all bantam-aged players after practice on Nov 17th 8:30 am at the fairgrounds. Our hope is this serves to introduce our players to post-high school educational possibilities.  These two sessions are a lead into a special event on Saturday, Dec. 1st which CIHC will be supporting.

On Saturday, Dec. 1st we have a unique opportunity to partner with I Know I Can (https://iknowican.org)  and attend their Blueprint program at The Ohio State University.  Blueprint is a grade-specific program with activities covering the important topics and steps for getting your family and child ready for college. Parents and students are invited to attend and learn more about the FREE services offered by I Know I Can, and gain important knowledge about the steps you can be taking now to ensure success upon high school graduation. The Blueprint High School program is for 9th-11th graders and families will be at OSU in the Student Union.  The event runs from 9am-2pm with lunch being provided.  Please mark your calendar for this event.  When registration opens we will be sending further information to get signed up for this event.

Again thanks for being part of the CIHC family. We hope this helps our families.
