NEW Burlington JR Devils Program

It gives us a great deal of pride and pleasure to be able to introduce a new foundation program for Burlington Hockey. The “Jr Devils” program is an instructional learn-to-play hockey program catered to anyone from age 4 -14. Never before have we been able to offer a place for our kids to go play before they were old enough to join a team and never before have we been able to have a place your 10 year old son or daughter can go and learn to play without having to fear getting hurt or being too far behind his or her peers.

Our mission is to create a solid foundation for BHSA by offering a place for youth of all ages from Burlington and surrounding towns to learn and develop the skill set of becoming a hockey player. It’s never too late to learn how to skate.

The Program – A seven month long, three hour per week fixed schedule (Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday) that will offer a unique blend of skill development ranging from Learn to Play Hockey to actual Cross Ice Games. All participants are welcome regardless of age and or previous skill set (see requirements below). It will be run by a small team of hockey coaches, High School Volunteers as well as parent volunteers to help facilitate an effective “station to station” type of practice. After an evaluation period, the entire group will be split up into equal teams – they will each be given a different color jersey and eventually play against each other on Sunday mornings. A USA Hockey registration number will be necessary to join (see below)

Goals – The goal of this program is to create a feeder system for the BHSA Program at all levels. No child who wants to start the game of hockey should feel they can’t. Our main goal will be to teach the basic skill set to play the game of hockey. For the older kids, if it is determined that a player is ready for the next step, he or she will be evaluated by the current age level coach as well as the Jr Devils director and potentially allowed to start to practice with his or her peers on that team. If after a few weeks of practice and the coaches agree that the player is ready to assimilate onto that team and there is room to do so, that transition can be made. The financial difference would be the responsibility of the player – a pre-determined and pro-rated tuition based on the month they move minus what has already been paid to the Jr Devils Program.  Simply put, our goal is create a love of the game at all skill levels.

This program is catered to the early adopters who can skate but are too young to join a team. It’s also catered to the 10 year old who sees all his or her friends playing and they feel it’s too late. Not anymore!

Requirements:

  • All skaters must have completed a “learn to skate” program before they can become a JR Devil.
  • Registration Fee: an initial fee of $100 will hold your skater's spot. The Full Remaining Balance of 450 will be due prior to the first practice
  • USA HOCKEY : All skaters must be registered with USA Hockey as this covers players' insurance while on the ice. You can go to USA hockey to sign up here
  • Full Hockey gear (Helmet, Shoulder, Shin and Elbow Pads and Skates)
  • Cost - $550 for up to 25 weeks or 75 hours of Ice time.

We are offering this to Burlington Residents first. We can only take the first 60 skaters and we anticipate this filling up quickly.

If you have any questions or would like to sign up, please contact Matt Robitaille at
