posted 02/18/2013 Ballard Beavers Gymnastics Team had 5 individuals qualify to the District 2 Championship Meet. Lauren, Laila and Clara qualified on all 4 Events and Jaemi and Victoria qualified on Beam.
The week leading up to Districts took Jaemi out of the competition due to a prior injury. Warm-up's went well until Clara injured her wrist and wasn't able to compete Bars or Beam.
With the toughest District in the State and only 8 Individual spots on each event it was going to be a tough competition.
Lauren was fantastic on Bars with a 8.1 earning 15th Place and a spot to State. Clara was phenominal on Floor and was able to Place 6th with a 9.5 earning her a spot to State.
The State meet only being a week away from Districts didn't give Clara enough time to recover from her injury. However, Clara went out on the Floor to do a full routine in front of the judges leaving out all tumbling passes as she went. It was her spirit, and not the score, that showed true Ballard Pride.
Lauren had her cleanest Bar routine of the season and she was 15th in the State on the event, only 7 spots out of the individual championship events. With a few more skills next season, she should qualify to day 2 of the State Championships.
Beaver Gymnastics had such a phenominal season with so many athletes improving and fighting through tough moments. We saw novice gymnasts raise their skills over the season and compete at KingCo Championships. We had a gymnast in her second year of trained gymnastics advance to Districts. We saw 5 gymnasts who have been together competing for the past 10 years keep our team at the top of KingCo. We are so proud of everyone that has made up this fantastic 2012-2013 Season. Through many hours of setting up and tearing down the gym, dinners at Red Robin, jumping at Sky High, sleepovers, and the final State outing, these Beavers have bonded and built an amazing team and each and everyone of them have proven why Ballard is the Best!

Go Beavs! | Ballard 5th at KingCo Championships by
posted 02/03/2013 Down one varsity gymnast, the Beavers headed to the KingCo Championships with hopes of miracles. The chance of beating a tough League for one of the covenant Team Spots at Districts was a long, long shot. In the end, Woodinville dominated with a 174.175 because of impressive Beam and Floor routines. Newport was second with a 166.85 lead by their all around champion Candace Ho. Bothell stayed consistent on all four events to claim the third spot with a 163.4. Inglemoor improved significantly and easily took fourth place with a 162.075. Ballard was fifth with a 157.575. Other teams competing were Issaquah, Skyline, Roosevelt, Redmond, Eastlake, and Garfield.
Our Beaver Gymnasts had fantastic individual results. Lauren placed 6th All Around (34.125) earning her an automatic bid to Districts on all 4 events. Lauren also placed in the Top 10 on Vault, Bars and Beam. In a field which included many State hopefuls, coming in 6th all around is a huge success for Ballard. Congratulations Lauren. Clara was 4th on Floor with an impressive 9.575.
District Qualifying first takes all gymnasts from the Top 3 Teams, then takes the next highest 4 All Around gymnasts, and finally takes the next 12 highest individual event gymnasts. With less teams and individuals to qualify this year, it was a much more difficult accomplishment to achieve.
Five of the Ballard Gymnasts individually qualified for Districts next week. Lauren, Clara, and Laila will compete all four events. Jaemi and Victoria will compete on Beam. It was a close call for Jaemi on the other events where she was alternate on Floor by 0.15 and out on Vault by 0.1 and Bars by 0.25.
At Districts, our Beavers will try for a spot at State. It will be a tough competition against KingCo qualifiers as well as those from the Auburn area. We wish all of them the best of luck.
We were also impressed by our two Freshmen, Lily and Hannah, who ended their Season at KingCo this year but who showed such amazing growth and Ballard Pride.

Next up was KingCo Championships at Roosevelt. | by
posted 01/29/2013 Ballard was invited to a special Gymnastics and Wrestling meet at Roosevelt last Friday night. It was a fantastic show of strength and fluidity as the gymnasts flew gracefully through the air and the wrestlers maneuvered their opponent to pin them to the mat. We were so proud to be part of this historic event and look forward to attending next Season.
Beaver Gymnasts put up their highest team score of the season, a 163.3, beating Roosevelt (154.25) and losing to Woodinville (173.2). This was the highest score for Ballard in two years when the Beavers were lead by the Fab Five Senior class of 2011. The 2012-13 team is young, and with so much potential so early, we hope to see many years of Ballard Pride.
Our Gymnasts were superb. Lauren was 2 nd All Around (34.85) and 1 st on Vault. Laila and Sophia were right behind Lauren on Vault placing 3 rd & 4 th. Lauren and Clara both placed on Bars, 2 nd and 5 th, and on Beam, 4 th and 7 th. Clara had a nearly flawless Floor routine receiving a 9.5, placing 2 nd by .05. Lauren, Laila and Sophia also had their highest scores on Floor of the season, placing them in the Top 10 on the event.
Here are the Top 5 Gymnasts making up the team score:
Vault: Lauren (8.5), Laila (8.4), Sophia (8.35), Clara (8.25), Jaemi (8.2)
Bars: Lauren (8.25), Clara (7.8), Laila (7.5), Jaemi (7.0), Sophia (6.9)
Beam: Lauren (8.9), Clara (8.85), Laila (7.9), Sophia (7.3), Jaemi (7.0)
Floor: Clara (9.5), Lauren (9.2), Laila (8.8), Sophia (8.7), Lily (8.0)
Ballard Gymnastics has set itself up perfectly to compete in the second session of KingCo on Feb 2 nd. If they place in the top 3 teams, they will compete as a team at Districts, giving them a shot at making State. It could be a Cinderella Season for these Beavers if they nail their Bar and Beam routines. Watch them this week at Roosevelt on Thursday and Saturday.
Special Thank You to Damien, Bill (2) and Rick (2), who were inadvertently left off our appreciation email for supporting Ballard Gymnastics at the JV Invitational.

| Senior Night Victory at Ballard by
posted 01/18/2013 It was Senior Night at Ballard and we celebrated our lone Senior, Louise. She has been an incredible sportsman over the years and has improved her gymnastics skills with each season. We can't say enough about her team spirit and willingness to help. We wish her all the luck and happiness her future holds.
The Beavers put up their highest team score of the season, 156.7, narrowly beating Inglemoor (156.65), for 1st, and handling threats by Skyline (143.15), Bellingham (143), and Eastlake (131.85). Here are your top 5 gymnasts that contributed to the team score:

Lauren was stellar in her All Around performance with a score of 33.45 for a 1st place tie and 2nd place finish due to her highest event score. She also was 5th on Vault, 2nd on Bars, 3rd on Beam, and 6th on Floor. Clara was amazing on Floor with a score of 9.55 putting her in 2nd. She had an All Around score of 32.75 coming in 3rd. Laila, Jaemi and Sophia had solid perfomances with Laila placing 7th AA (30.9) and Jaemi placing 10th (29.55). Victoria stuck her Beam routine placing her in the Top 10 on the event.
With two weeks and two meets left until KingCo Championships, the anticipation of what could come next is starting to build. Ballard Gymnastics is currently ranked 4th in KingCo and with hard work, dedication and a little luck, could send many of our gymnasts to State.
There was great opportunity at this meet to allow many of our gymnasts to exhibition their JV meet routines. We were excited to see Vela, Maddy, Clare, Hannah and Julia improve this meet and congratulations to first time competitors Ana, Paula, Lilli, Mia, and Marjory. We are excited to seeing all of you on Saturday at the JV Invitational. | by
posted 01/13/2013 With a severally limping team Ballard Gymnastics went to compete on the eastside against Redmond, Eastlake and Garfield. Being short 2 top gymnasts and 2 other gymnasts coming back from injury, it was a shot to the wind on what would happen Saturday night.
The Beavers fought hard for every landing and event ending the meet with a team score of 143.5, good enough for a 1st place win. Beating Garfield (70.1) Eastlake (130.95) and Redmond (135.25), Ballard secured that crucial Team 4th place spot in KingCo with only Roosevelt left.
Ballard gymnasts reigned supreme with Lauren winning All Around (32.45) as well as Bars (7.6) and Beam (8.8). Sophia continued to show major advancement on all events ending the meet in 4th place All Around (30), 3rd on Bars (6.3) and 4th on Vault (8.4), Beam (7.7) and Floor (7.6). Jaemi had a strong come back after a 5 week break due to injury and was 5th All Around (8.3), 6th on Vault (8.3), Bars (5.6), Beam (7.15) and Floor (7.5). Three gymnasts stepped up and filled in to secure the victory for Ballard. Great job Lily, Hannah and Victoria. Below are the top 5 gymansts contributing to the Team score:

Floor: Lauren (7.75), Sophia (7.6), Jaemi (7.5), Lily (7.1), Victoria (6.3)
There were a lot of Novice gymnasts who were able to compete and prepare for the up-coming JV Invitational (hosted at BHS on Jan 19th). We are proud of you Maddy, Julia, Bella, Vela, Louise and Anna. All of you have come a long way and we look forward to see you compete again soon.
Great job Ballard!

Go Beavs! | Home Win Against Inglemoor by
posted 12/06/2012 Ballard Gymnastics hosted Inglemoor at their first home meet of the season. The Beavers were hoping for a little payback after Inglemoor nudged them out of the prior seasons District Championships. The 2012-13 Team did just that, putting up a Ballard score of 151.35, narrowly beating the Vikings score of 150.725.
Five of the Beaver Gymnasts placed in the Top 10 All Around (Clara, Lauren, Laila, Sophia and Jaemi).
Ballard was lead by Freshman sensation Clara who took 1 st in All Around with a score of 32.875, a 1.875 point improvement over last week’s performance. Clara was 1 st on Bars (7.5) and Floor (9.325) and she took 3 rd on Beam (8.0).
Returning Sophomore Lauren brought back her solid routines for the Beavers and delivered a 3 rd Place finish in All Around (31.45) and 2 nd on Bars (8.55).
Also placing in the top 3 on individual events was Laila, who was 3 rd on Floor (8.65) with an impressive routine that had her teammates and the crowd dancing along.
Here are your Top 5 Ballard Gymnasts contributing to the Team Score:
Vault: Sophia (8.075); Clara (8.05); Lauren (7.95); Lily (7.9); Jaemi (7.85)
Bars: Clara (7.5); Lauren (7.45); Laila (6.1); Sophia (6.1); Jaemi (5.65)

Floor: Clara (9.325); Laila (8.65); Lauren (8.55); Jaemi (7.75); Sophia (7.6)
Overall the Beavers showed significant improvements since their last meet. There were less falls on Bars and Beam and more stuck landings on Vault and Floor.
We wish our Gymnasts all the best at their next meet and hope to see them continue to focus on their goal of making it to the District Championships in February.

| First Meet Showed Potential by
posted 11/30/2012 The first meet of the Gymnastics season pitted our young Beavers up against tough, veteran Newport and Bothell Teams. Though it wouldn’t go down as the best meet of our Gymnasts careers, there was a ton of potential shown and a chance of being a strong KingCo contender.
Freshman Clara and Sophomores Lauren & Laila had solid performances in the All Around with Lauren placing 7 th (31.1), Clara 8 th (31.0) and Laila 9 th (30.4).
Junior Jaemi, Sophomore Sophia and Freshman Lilly G contributed to the Team score of 148. Though it wasn’t enough to take a win against Newport (164.35) and Bothell (159.55), it was enough to beat Redmond (122.7). Improving the Ballard Beam score will be critical to keeping up with these other highly competitive KingCo Teams. Our gymnasts have talent so a few more sticks are sure to come over the next few weeks to help to raise the Ballard Team to Victory.
Beaver Gymnasts placed on individual events as well. Lauren was 7 th on Vault with a score of 8.2 and 4 th on Bars with a score of 7.3. Clara was 2 nd on Bars with a score of 7.6 and 4 th on Floor with a score of 9.2. Laila was 10 th on Beam with a score of 7.55.
We had some new gymnasts competing for the very first time and we are so proud of them. Hannah, Clare, and Julia were on the mat for the first time and showed great potential in their first year of gymnastics. Victoria had a 22.65 AA and entertained us all on Floor with a very sassy routine. Other returning gymnasts competing were Louise and Cora.
Check out the 2012-2013 Schedule on our website and come to a meet to root on Ballard Gymnastics!

| 2012-2013 Captains Announced by
posted 10/14/2012 Coach Stephanie and Coach Jenni announced Thursday the 2012-2013 Captains.
Congratulations Jaemi (Jr.), Cora (Jr.) and Victoria (So.)!
Jaemi has been a gymnast for the past 10 years, first with SGA, then SPU and now BHS. Her specialties are Vault and Floor. Last Season, she competed all 4 events at the District Championships. She is looking forward to her 3rd year as a Beaver Gymnast.
Cora started gymanstics through cheerleader, taking many years of tumbling and dance. Her strength is Floor where we are excited to see her perform. This is her 3rd year as a Beaver Gymnast.
Victoria came to BHS last year with no gymnastics background but quickly proved she was a natural. Her years of High Wire and Trapeze Training has made her a quick learn on Bars and Beam. We look forward to seeing what her 2nd year of gymnastics will hold.
We celebrate these Beavers for their hardwork and dedication to Ballard Gymnastics!
