Ballard was represented at the 2015 WIAA State Gymnastics Championships by five Ballard gymnasts: Sophia Pierce (Vault, Bars, Floor), Hannah Hudson (Vault, Bars, Beam), Clara Yardley (All-Around), Amirah Karam (Vault, Bars, Floor), and Laila Lee (Vault, Beam).
With approximately 96 competitors on each event, Ballard placements were:
Congratulations to ALL 83 gymnasts (representing 15 high schools) who competed on Valentines Day, February 14, 2015 at the 2A/3A District Gymnastics competition held at Ballard High School. These gymnasts competed for a chance to compete at the State Gymnastics Meet to be held February 20 and 21 at the Tacoma Dome.

The Metro All-Comers meet held at Ballard High School Saturday 31, 2015, featured many JV gymnasts who often don't get to compete in regular season meets. All eight Metro league schools were represented with home team Ballard (84.150) taking the top award with Roosevelt (71.600) taking second place. Team scores were determined by taking the top 3 school gymnasts in each event.
Other major ribbon winners from Ballard included, Lily Godon (1st All-Around), Clare Maclay (2nd All-Around), and Bella Steenstra (3rd All-Around).
Yardley dazzled with her floor exercise routine Friday (January 16) against West Seattle, earning a 9.7 — her third mark of the season of 9.7 or better. The junior also won the balance beam at 9.0, tied for first on vault (8.2) and tied for second on bars (7.55) to take all-around honors at 34.45 and lead the Beavers to a team victory as they improved to 8-1. “This was Clara’s best meet of the season and she’s continuing to improve every week as he head towards the postseason,” coach Stephanie Gundel said.
The Ballard team (167.550) had one of their strongest showings of the season but fell short to Holy Names (169.100). Also competing was Ingraham (148.700). Ballard gymnast Clara Yardley once again won the Floor (9.7) and Beam (9.5) events and was second place in the All-Around. Contributors to the Ballards team score included Hannah Hudson, Amirah Karam, Laila Lee, Sophia Pierce and Clara Yardley.
Ballard scored an impressive win (161.350 to 139.200) against West Seattle, Friday January 16th. Ballard gymnasts led by Clara Yardley, placed the top 6 in the All-Around. Clara took top honors on Vault, Beam, and Floor, and Laila Lee was the top scorer on Bars.
Ballard won their first home meet of the season with a season high score of 161.100 competing against a tough Holy Names team (153.900), Roosevelt (126.500) and Bellingham and Sehome. Ballard highlights include: In the top 10 All-Around Finishers - Laila Lee (2), Amirah Karam (3), Hannah Hudson (4), Victoria O'Laughlin (8). In the top 10 Vault finishers - Clara Yardley (4), Laila Lee and Amirah Karam (6T). In the top 10 Bars finishers - Sophia Pierce (3), Amirah Karam (4), Hannah Hudson (5), Sarah Martin (8), Laila Lee (10). In the top 10 Beam finishers - Laila Lee (1), Clara Yardley (2), Sophia Pierce (3), Hannah Hudson (4), Victoria O'Laughlin (6), Sarah Martin (7), Amirah Karam (9). In the top 10 Floor finishers - Clara Yardley (1), Sophia Pierce (2), Laila Lee and Amirah Karam (4), Hannah Hudson (6).
Ballard sophomore Clara Yardley started the season with 2nd place finishes on bars, beam, floor and in the all around. Junior Lauren Lee tied for first on vault and was third on bars, beam and in the all around. Also with impressive showings were Junior Sophia Pierce (5th on vault, bars and in the all around), senior Madison Woods (6th on vault), junior Laila Lee (6th on bars) and sophomore Hannah Hudson (6th on beam and in the all around).
